This article will cover how to add a Family record to CareControl. If the family has a waitlisted application, you may add the family using the waitlist information instead.
Before adding a Family record, start by searching for the potential Family using the Search function within the Family Module. This will provide information on whether or not the Family being added already exists.
Once ready, click the New Family button in the navigation bar to start the process.
CareControl will open 4 guided-steps to assist with the family entry:

Family Info is the first of the 4 steps.
- Enter all the required information for the overall family including the Family Type, Language, Cash Aid Status, along with any other details you may have at this point.
❗️TIPS:- Any mandatory fields will be marked with the red asterisk (*) which will prevent moving to the next step if the information is missing.
- When entering the family address, CareControl will automatically complete the State, City, and County once a valid Zip code is entered. If you require a full 9-digit Zip code, utilize the Zip code lookup tool to easily identify the 4-digit extension.
- Enter all the required information for the overall family including the Family Type, Language, Cash Aid Status, along with any other details you may have at this point.

Member is the second step.
- Enter the parent / guardian information including their First Name, Last Name, Parent Type, Relationship, Contact info, etc.
- The Member 1 entry is reserved for the primary parent in the household. Ensure to select the Parent Type as Parent A.

- Click Add Member if you wish to enter all family members at this step, while specifying the Parent Type as Parent B or Other as applicable.
- Enter the parent / guardian information including their First Name, Last Name, Parent Type, Relationship, Contact info, etc.

Child is the third step.
- Enter information on the children including their First Name, Last Name, Language, DOB, Relationship, and Gender.
- Click Add Child to add all children in the household into this family record.

Case is the last step in adding a Family.
- This step is to create an enrollment case for the family. Specify the Funding Source that the family will be enrolling under.
- When selecting a specific Funding Source, the details for the enrollment case will differ for the program designation.
- When CDSS Funding Source is selected, enter all necessary information required and available for the CDSS enrollment.
- When Stage 1 Funding Source is selected, enter all necessary information required and available for the Stage 1 enrollment.
- When CDSS Funding Source is selected, enter all necessary information required and available for the CDSS enrollment.
- When selecting a specific Funding Source, the details for the enrollment case will differ for the program designation.
- This step is to create an enrollment case for the family. Specify the Funding Source that the family will be enrolling under.
- Once done completing information in all 4 steps, click Save to finish adding the family.
- CareControl will redirect you to the newly created family record with the Family ID automatically assigned.
You are now ready for the next steps to determine the family eligibility in the subsidized child care service program.
