The Subsidy module in CareConnect is designed for agencies that manage Alternative Payment child care subsidy services.

Why the Subsidy Module Exists

The Subsidy module supports the full subsidy process between the agency, parent, and child care provider.

When a family is approved for child care assistance, the selected provider can use CareConnect to track attendance and submit timesheets for payment.

Because these functions are specific to Alternative Payment programs, not every agency needs to use the Subsidy module.

Who Should Use the Subsidy Module?

Agencies should use the Subsidy module when they provide child care for children enrolled through an Alternative Payment Agency.

This may include:

• Managing attendance and timesheets
• Reviewing completed timesheets
• Submitting timesheets for payments

Who Does Not Need to Use the Subsidy Module?

Direct-Service Agencies

Agencies that provide only direct child care services generally do not need to use the Subsidy module.

If your agency operates its own child care programs and does not administer Alternative Payment services, the Subsidy module is not part of your normal CareConnect workflow.

FCCHEN Programs

Agencies operating Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN) programs also would not use the Subsidy module for their FCCHEN providers.

Even though FCCHEN programs work with family child care providers, those providers are managed through a different program model and workflow than Alternative Payment providers.

The Subsidy module should only be used for agencies participating through an Alternative Payment program.

If Your Agency Does Not Use the Subsidy Module

If your agency does not administer Alternative Payment services, staff may still see the Subsidy section depending on their CareConnect permissions.

If you would prefer that staff not see this module, you can:

• Remove the Subsidy permission from the applicable user's Roles, or
• Contact CareConnect Support and we can assist with reviewing or updating your agency's permissions.

Removing the permission only changes whether the user can access the Subsidy module. It does not prevent the agency from using other CareConnect features that are appropriate for its programs.
