California General Child Care Program (CCTR):
California General Child Care Program. This program supports children 0-3. CCTR is available in center based and family child care homes. These programs provide an educational component that is developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate for the children served. The programs also provide meals and snacks to children, parent education, referrals to health and social services for families, and staff development opportunities to employees
California State Preschool Program (CSPP):
California State Preschool Program. CSPP is the largest state-funded preschool program in the nation. CSPP includes both part-day and full-day services to eligible three- and four-year-old children. CSPP provides a core class curriculum that is developmentally, culturally, and linguistically informed for the children served. The program also provides meals and snacks to children, parent education, referrals to health and social services for families, and staff development opportunities to employees. The program is administered through local education agencies, colleges, community-action agencies, local government entities, and private nonprofit agencies.
Early Head Start:
EHS or Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides child development and family support services to income qualifying expectant families, pregnant women, and infants and toddlers under age 3. Early Head Start services are available at no cost to children ages birth to 5 in eligible families. Early Head Start aims to promote school readiness, optimal health, nutrition, and development, and self-sufficiency for families. EHS programs offer different types of support, such as, home visiting, health screenings, enriching childcare, and parental skill-building and education. Programs deliver child development services in center-based, home-based, or family child care settings. All Head Start programs continually work toward our mission for eligible children and families to receive high-quality services in safe and healthy settings that prepare children for school and life.
Head Start:
This program supports children's growth from birth to age 5 through services that support early learning and development, health, and family well-being. Head Start staff actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program as key to strong child outcomes. Head Start services are available at no cost to children ages birth to 5 in eligible families. Head Start preschool services work with families with children ages 3 to 5. Programs deliver child development services in center-based, home-based, or family child care settings. All Head Start programs continually work toward our mission for eligible children and families to receive high-quality services in safe and healthy settings that prepare children for school and life.
Alternative Payment Program (APP):
This program pays for all or part of child care expenses if parents work, seek work, attend school, seek permanent housing, experience homelessness, are incapacitated, are deemed at risk by a legally qualified professional, and/or are receiving child protective services. Through this program, participating families select caregivers from a variety of licensed and license-exempt child care providers throughout the community.
